BONDI
The name Bondi comes from the Aboriginal word Boondi, meaning ‘water breaking over rocks’ - a sound that has remained constant while everything else has shifted.
I lived in Bondi for over 25 years, documenting its evolution through my lens as the raw, coastal grit of the 90s slowly gave way to high-end gentrification. These photos are just a few of hundreds of thousands from my personal archive of that transition. They capture a suburb caught between its ancient roots and its modern makeover, a visual record of a place that is constantly reinventing itself, even as the surf continues to break exactly as it always has.
